Privacy policy

What Plain Dev Tools does and does not collect: tool input stays in your browser, and the optional email list stores only your address and consent record.

Last updated 2026-10-21.

Tool input never leaves your browser

Every tool on this site runs in your browser tab. What you paste, type or choose is processed on your device and is not sent to this site or anyone else. The test suite fails the build if a tool script contains a network call, and you can check in your browser network panel.

The optional email list

If you subscribe to devtools-updates, we collect your email address, the exact consent text you saw, the page you subscribed from, the time, and campaign tags from the page address if present. We use them to send you a confirmation message and then, at most monthly, a note when Plain Dev Tools adds a tool.

Sign-up is double opt-in: nothing else is sent until you click the link in the confirmation message. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We do not sell or share the list. The sign-up form posts to a service run by the site owner, and only when you press Subscribe.

Cookies, storage and analytics

The site sets no cookies. It stores your light or dark theme choice and your keyboard-shortcut setting in your browser local storage, and a service worker keeps a copy of the pages for offline use. The site may use cookieless page-view analytics to learn which pages are used.

Ads and affiliate links

Tool pages never load third-party scripts. Other pages may later carry labelled ads or affiliate links; the disclosure on each page says whether any are active.

Your choices

Unsubscribe with the link in any email; that removes you from the list. Contact details for questions about this policy are in the footer of every email we send.
